Project Overview
While this project only comes with one image, it's still one of the most important for me. This was my first canvas print piece, and even more important a Christmas gift to my wife. Now, a picture of a beach may seem like a sad replacement for a real trip to a beach, but if it helps, this actually wasn't the first time I gave my wife a picture of a beach, and I have to say, the first picture was trash.
Before my wife was my wife, I made a render for some of my closest friends as a post college farewell, my challenge being to create an environment that I thought matched each persons personalities. Needless to say I bit off a bit more than I could chew with my wife's concept of a beach and it was bad, which turned it to a long standing joke for us and also led me to this gift, a 24"x31" canvas. An updated version of a beach that is at least ~one step closer, to what she deserves
My Goals
My first time I tried to simulate the ocean, I was naive which led to some janky results. This time I wanted to approach it smarter, so naturally I did the same thing. Jokes aside, this was a great way to dive into X-Particles more, something I have used plenty for various simulations but never for ocean sims. This added a lot of time but in my view was worth it. Doing it forced me to learn how waves at a beach actually work and create more convincing ones. But while I didn't want it to be too cartoonish, I also didn't want to limit myself to real life completely, allowing myself to play with my hues.
